According to feng shui, our satisfaction is right next to healthy habits. Every time a guy adopts a good practice, one stray dog gets adopted. I like to believe that.

If you plan to live and work on your terms, it will require developing some useful strategies that will boost your physical and mental energy.

For example, If you don't dream enough, your reality might also not be enough. Both literally and metaphorically. Getting a good night's sleep is one of the essential habits. Intrigued to find out what are the other four?

Pick one to start TODAY. Which one is it?

1) Get a Good Night’s Sleep

Everyone knows how important a proper diet is for your health. A less known fact is that rest has an equally significant role. Remember that an excellent day starts with a great night’s sleep. Don’t worry, night owls, you don’t have to change your lifestyle.

What matters is the quantity and quality of rest you get. Create healthy habits around your schedule. Make sure your bed is comfy and go to sleep at the same time every day. It would be best if you got at least seven hours of sleep. Any task, big or small, is more manageable after a good rest.

2) Don’t Let Stress Get to You.

Stress is an awful thing in more ways than you might think. It leads to anxiety, and it robs you of the will to push forward. Stress also leads to the release of hormones that result in weight gain and a whole plethora of health problems. You can fight this by forming healthy habits.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, take a break. Walk away for a few moments. Stop focusing on problems and start looking on the bright side. Just by taking some time to enjoy life, you’re making a massive difference for your health.

3) Consider Your Entourage

Jim Roth said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with,” and I agree. Your lifestyle will heavily depend on the people around you.

It would help if you surrounded yourself with friends who will support and encourage you. Try to find people who want to better themselves, just like you. Form healthy habits together with them. You’re much more likely to stick to these habits.

A gym buddy, for example, will surely encourage you to work out more. Health benefits aside, this can also lead to great friendships or even more.

Meeting new people is always rewarding for the spirit.

4) Visualize Your Progress and Healthy Habits Each Morning

After waking up, take a few moments and think about how far you’ve come. Motivation is necessary, and nothing will motivate you more than looking at the improvements in your life.

Don’t forget that you are becoming happier through these healthy habits. Please do this in the morning because it will give you a tremendous confidence boost to carry you through the day. When you look back and see how your life has improved, you’ll be ready to face anything.

Here’s a great morning ritual for you: Take a picture of yourself every day. You’ll be able to fill an album in a few months. That album will be your irrefutable proof that life is getting better. Whenever you feel down, look at the pictures. They’ll bring a smile to your face.

5) Get Regular Checkups with a Doctor

Sadly, many gay men don’t visit the doctor as often as they should. It’s understandable not to want to face stigma because of your sexuality. Still, you have to visit the doctor once in a while.

Otherwise, you are gambling with your health. STDs are a severe problem in the LGBTQ community. It may be a bit depressing, but it’s the reality of the situation. It merely is in your best interest to get regular checkups.

You are risking your health by avoiding them. Besides STDs, there is a myriad of other illnesses that are invisible to the naked eye. Out of all the healthy habits I talked about, this one is the most important. Adopting these practices will lead to better health and more fulfilling life. They don’t require much effort, so there’s no reason not to try.
